Expedition itinerary
Day 1 (Nairobi – Amboseli)
Meet and greet at the hotel/airport. You’ll be briefed by the guide about the whole itinerary. After the meet and greet you will start making your way to Amboseli National Park. Size wise Amboseli National park is much smaller than the Tsavo parks, but that doesn’t mean there is less wildlife to spot. The landscape is flat with little vegetation and with several swampy areas. The park is mostly known for its beautiful view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Keep your camera close as mt. Kilimanjaro might show her beautiful face. At noon you will arrive at the lodge where you will check in and can sit down for a lovely lunch.
After lunch there is the possibility to relax and make use of the hotel facilities. At 16:00 you will enter the park for your evening game drive. When the sun begins to begin, it’s time to return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 (Amboseli – Tsavo West)
After breakfast you will check out and head into the park for your morning game drive. After about an hour and a half you will make your way to the exit of the park and start your journey to Tsavo West National Park. Back in the day Tsavo used to be one big park, but because of the construction of the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway it was divided into Tsavo East and West. Today you will visit the west part of the park, which is known as “the home of the leopards”.
The landscape is dense and hilly, making it a little more difficult to spot the animals. However, nature is breathtakingly beautiful here. Once you have entered the park you will start with your enroute game drive towards your lodge. Around lunch hours you will arrive at the lodge, where you will check in and sit down for a lovely lunch. After lunch you will have little bit of time to relax.
Later in the afternoon you will head back into the park for your evening game drive, which will last for about 2 hours. Try you luck this afternoon and spot as many animals as you can. When the sun starts to set it is time to head back to the lunch for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 (Tsavo West – Tsavo East)
Another early morning today with another early breakfast. After breakfast you will check out and head into the park for your morning game drive. After the game drive you will head to the exit of the park. Once you have left the park behind you, your journey to Tsavo East National Park will start. Tsavo East National Park is the East part of the old Tsavo Park and is also know as “Theatre of the Wild”. The landscape in the park is mostly grass savannah, which makes it a bit easier to spot the wildlife. With a little luck you will be able to spot the complete Big five in this park. The animals you can spot in this park are herds of “red” elephants, buffalos, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, gerenuks and a large variety of birds.
